Family Friendly December Events

There is no shortage of fun in Augusta’s River Region during the holiday season. Between holiday breaks and cold weekends, there are plenty of fun activities to fit in for the family. Here are five December happenings to add to your calendar: 

Lights of the South

One of Columbia County’s most popular holiday attractions is back for another year with thousands of twinkling lights and beautiful displays. They are located at 633 Louisville Road and will be open through the end of the month. Visit here for more information and to purchase tickets. 

Evans on Ice 

If you were sad to see the ice rink leave our area, make it a point to stop by Evans on Ice at the Evans Towne Center Park before the beginning of January. They are open 7 days a week with varying hours and information as well as ticket purchases can be found here

Holiday Market at the Marina

At the 5th Street Marina in Augusta, you can visit vendors every Sunday throughout the month from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM to purchase gifts, holiday goods, and even grab a bite to eat from a food truck on site. 

Martinez-Evans Christmas Parade

Sunday, December 5th from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM will be the Martinez-Evans Christmas Parade. There is a new route beginning near Evans Fitness Center and looping around to end at Evans Towne Center Park for the tree lighting that evening complete with vendors and music. Bring a chair, blanket, snacks and get ready for a day full of holiday fun! More details can be found here

Christmas in Hopelands Gardens

From December 11-23, the beautiful Hopelands Gardens in Aiken, South Carolina will be transformed into an enchanted walk with more than 100,000 glittering lights. Admission is free and you can visit any time between 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
