The Augusta area has a variety of beautiful outdoor areas to explore. The best part is that most of them are free! This is the perfect opportunity to spend time outside in the beautiful weather without breaking the bank. Here are a few places to check out:

Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, 1858 Lock & Dam Road, Augusta

The Phinizy Swamp Nature Park is a few minutes from the downtown Augusta area and brings beautiful views of nature and wildlife. You can see a blue heron, river otter, and sometimes even an alligator! There are also boardwalks and trails for hiking as well as public restrooms if needed. The visitors center on site is open from 9:00 am-5:00 pm on weekends.

Savannah Rapids Pavilion, 3300 Evans to Locks Road, Martinez

This gorgeous 33 acre park is home of the Savannah Rapids Pavilion and Historic Augusta Canal Headgates. You can walk, run or bike the 7.5 mile canal trail that leads to downtown Augusta or have a picnic by the headgates with breathtaking views of the Savannah River. There are shaded picnic areas, a playground for children, and restrooms.

Augusta Riverwalk, 4 8th Street, Augusta

The Riverwalk in downtown Augusta features beautiful views of the Savannah River and various gardens for a picturesque walk. There is also a playground for children to burn energy.

Riverside Park at Betty’s Branch, 4431 Hardy McManus Road, Evans

Betty’s Branch is a tributary to the Savannah River and offers many views of twildlife, whether you are watching on the ground or in your kayak. There are picnic shelters available and playground areas. You can even bring your furry friends to the dog park on site!

Augusta Common, 836 Reynolds Street, Augusta

The Augusta Common is a 1-acre open space in the heart of downtown Augusta. It features beautiful landscaping, park benches, fountains and a brick walkway. There is also free WiFi if you want to spend time outside getting work done!
